I’m with you, Arunn & N. Srinivasan, the sculpture down in Pudukkottai I find more
beautiful. What does the Jambuji Koil have that I should see?

In reply to arunn, I think the earlier Chola temples mainly spread in and around Pudukkottai Karaikudi have real masterpieces. Even the Tiruvanaikoil temple is very artistic.

The panel pictured is called the Chandesa Anugraha Murthi. Actually the Chandesa bowing before Lord Siva and Parvathi is also said to be a likness of Lord Rajendra Chozhan himself!!!!! did you know about that??

but cant help wondering this… as cholas reigned after pallavas, the technology shud have improved in sculpting(or knowledge of this art is already avlbl.) but still intricacy and fit/finish is missing or of less qlty - excluding few such as … the one in this post! but the civil engineering had developed tho- in constructing towering vimanas!
